JONATHAN CHERRY: Who is inspiring you at the moment?

SAM A HARRIS: I recently discovered Sarah Hermans work for Walden, which I loved. John Opera, Noel Rodo - Vankeulen, Theo Simpson & Ben McLaughlins work under Mass Observation is amazing. Thomas Albdorf also, he’s going to go far.

JC: What is Vital Fiction all about?

SH: Essentially Vital Fiction is an exploration of life, death and our existence. It’s a personal inquest into the vast number of unanswered questions I have about the world; a search for reason brought on by pure curiosity.

JC: Where are you currently living and how is it shaping you?

SH: I’m currently in Brighton. I love it here, but unfortunately I won’t be here for too long due to finishing university here. Maybe I will move back at some point. I guess living here has made me more chilled out than I was before, could possibly be all the hippies?

JC: How do you feel now that University is done and dusted?

SH: It was the weirdest feeling handing in my final body of work, I was obviously relieved, but felt so lost at the same time. We’re working towards our final show now, so I’m trying to keep busy with that, instead of thinking of the inevitable post graduation worries.

JC: Any big plans for the rest of 2012?

SH: Nothing really big. I have a couple of photographic/publishing internships lined up which I’m looking forward to. My main aim this year is to get any old job and save up some money, then hopefully go see some more of the world next year.

JC: Favourite tree?

SH: Silver Birch!
